Just curious how much the uterus actually grows as the baby develops. Im in my second trimester and my belly has started showing properly now, so i keep wondering how big it gets inside. Anyone know roughly how it changes month by month?
It grows gradually with the baby, nothing you have to do or worry about. The doctor keeps a check on it during scans and checkups, so just relax and let your body do its thing.
Reading this and feeling amazed haha. So basically from pear size to watermelon size? I'm at 16 weeks and already feeling my lower belly firm up, makes sense now.
My doctor explained it nicely, before pregnancy uterus is roughly the size of a small pear. By around 12 weeks it's like a grapefruit, by 20 weeks it reaches your belly button, and near the end it's up under your ribs. It grows so much, our bodies are amazing honestly.
It starts tiny, almost fist sized, and stretches to hold a full grown baby plus fluid by 9 months. Thats why the belly keeps pushing up. Your gynac measures the fundal height at each visit to track it, simple.
