There was a tiny packet inside my pregnancy test box and i almost threw it. Just got curious what its actually for, does it affect the result somehow? Random question i know.
That little white packet is just to keep moisture away so the kit stays dry and works properly. It is NOT to be used or eaten, throw it away. The actual test is done with your urine only, the silica gel has no role in testing.
Silica gel is a desiccant, it absorbs humidity so the test strip doesnt get spoiled before use. The chemical that detects pregnancy is on the strip itself reacting to hcg in urine. So the gel is only for storage protection, discard it safely.
Haha that packet always says do not eat right? Its literally just to stop the test from getting damp in the packet. Nothing to do with the result, just toss it and use the strip normally.
