My 6 week scan report mentioned yolk sac seen, but fetal pole not clear yet. Doctor said repeat scan after some days, still I am anxious. What does yolk sac mean in early scan?
My doctor explained it nicely, the yolk sac is the first structure seen in the early scan, it gives nutrition to the baby before the placenta forms. Seeing it on the scan is actually a good early sign. After some weeks placenta takes over and the sac slowly disappears.
