My recent blood test showed something off with thyroid and doc has asked me to start something for it. I dont really understand what it means for the baby and me. Can someone explain in simple words pls?
Basically the thyroid gland affects ur hormones and during pregnancy it can go out of balance. My gynac said its checked in the routine first trimester blood panel. If TSH is off they just give medication, nothing scary.
I had hypothyroid during my pregnancy, its quite common actually. The doc adjusted my dose and i got thyroid blood tests every few weeks. Just keep up the regular follow ups na, once its controlled its totally manageable.
When my report said thyroid i totally panicked thinking something is wrong with baby. But doc calmed me down, said its just a pill and monitoring. Dont overthink it like i did, just take the medicine on time.
