My gynac wrote tvs ultrasound on my slip for next visit and i didnt ask her what it means. Im early, just about 6 weeks. Can someone explain what this scan actually is and is it different from a normal one?
TVS is transvaginal scan, done internally with a small probe. My doctor used it in early weeks because it gives a clearer picture of the tiny gestational sac and heartbeat than the tummy scan at that stage. Its safe and quick.
Its the internal scan they do early on, much clearer for the first few weeks than the normal abdomen one. Done it both times. Empty bladder needed for this one, unlike the tummy scan.
I was nervous when they said TVS, thought it would hurt. Honestly it was just a little uncomfortable, not painful, and over fast. Thats how I first saw my baby's heartbeat, I actually cried.
TVS = transvaginal scan, basically a clearer early look at the baby. My app had explained it too. They use it before the belly bump scan gives good images. Quick and routine, nothing to stress about.
