Im 9 weeks and i get headache and cold so often these days. Scared to take anything on my own without asking. Just want to know what is generally considered safe na, will still confirm with my gynac.
Don't take any medicine without talking to your gynac. Period. Even basic cough syrup or antacids need to be checked. They will tell you what's safe, usually it's very limited, mostly just iron and calcium supplements. No experiments please.
I completely panicked about this too in my first trimester, thinking even a small headache could harm the baby if I took a pill. But my doc reassured me that some meds like plain paracetamol are safe for minor issues *if* prescribed by them. Just call your gynac for any symptoms, don't try to guess or use old prescriptions.
Honestly, the rule is almost no medicine unless your gynac explicitly prescribes it. For common cold or fever, they usually suggest paracetamol and that too in limited doses. Never self-medicate, even for something small.
I totally understand the worry about medicines during pregnancy, it feels like every little thing needs a check! My heart always went out to what was safe for my baby. It’s always best to ask your doctor about *any* medicine, even cough syrups or headache pills, to be absolutely sure.
Oh god, this was such a struggle for me! If I had a headache, I'd just try to distract myself with some yummy snack instead of thinking of pills. Seriously though, apart from basic paracetamol if absolutely needed (and only if doc okays it), mostly it's just prenatals. For anything else, you *have* to check with your gynac, no two ways about it.
