We want to start trying after this cycle and I am making a list of things to do. I have never had a pre-pregnancy checkup before. What precautions did you take before conceiving?
I'm in this phase right now too! The main things i'm doing are starting folic acid (doc prescribed), eating better, cutting caffeine a bit and getting basic tests done. They told me to start folic acid even before getting pregnant, that surprised me.
When we planned, my gynac suggested a pre-conception checkup, basic blood tests, thyroid and sugar check, and starting folic acid 2-3 months before trying. She also said maintain a healthy weight, stop smoking/alcohol and update any vaccines if needed. Worth doing this groundwork properly.
Take care of your health, eat well, rest and keep a calm positive mind, stress affects more than we realise. Along with folic acid and a doctor visit, just enter this journey peacefully. Things fall into place with patience.
Since i have PCOS, getting my cycles and weight sorted before trying really helped. I'd say get a checkup first, especially thyroid and sugar, and start folic acid. Everyone's body is different so a doctor's plan suited to you matters more than general tips.
Folic acid, healthy diet, cut out smoking and drinking, manage stress and get a basic health check done. Thats the core of it. I did this before my second and felt more prepared. Dont overcomplicate it, just get your body in good shape.
Practically, get the basic pre-pregnancy blood tests done, they're not very expensive and save trouble later. Start folic acid which is cheap, fix your diet and sleep. Also good time to check your insurance/maternity coverage so finances are sorted before baby plans.
We just started trying so this is helpful to read. I began folic acid after talking to a doctor and we both cut down on junk and late nights. Felt nice to prepare together rather than rushing into it.
