What should i eat to increase hemoglobin during pregnancy?
My last report my hb came a bit low and doc said try to bring it up with food first. Im 22 weeks now. Apart from beetroot and dates what all are you ladies eating that actually helped? pls share what worked for u.
Beetroot, spinach, dates and jaggery worked but watch the sugar if you have GD like me. I balanced it with palak, methi and the prescribed iron supplement. Your doctor can tell the right combo for your sugar levels.
Beta in our home we always gave anaar, beetroot and gud during this time. A glass of pomegranate juice daily really brings up the blood. But take the doctor's iron tablet too, home food alone isnt always enough.
You dont need expensive things, simple palak, gud, chana and seasonal greens are cheap and iron rich. I added a slice of lemon for absorption. The iron tablet from the hospital is usually free or low cost, dont skip it.
My doctor said to combine iron rich foods with vitamin C and avoid tea or coffee right after meals as they block iron absorption. So I ate spinach and dal with a bit of citrus, and kept chai away from mealtime. She also kept checking my reports to adjust the dose.
Yaar I actually struggled with low hb, so I added palak, beetroot and dates and squeezed lemon on everything for absorption. Cut out chai right after meals. Slowly my reports improved na, just be consistent.
I had lots of dates, ragi, beetroot and green leafy veg like drumstick leaves, my mom swore by them. Vitamin C foods like lemon help absorb the iron better. But also take the iron tablet your gynac prescribes, food alone may not be enough.
