Just got my positive last week and im honestly thoda overwhelmed. Want to make a list of things to avoid so i dont do anything wrong. Pls share from ur experience.
Oh, there are quite a few things to be careful about! Alcohol, smoking, raw meat, unpasteurised dairy, and certain fish with high mercury levels are a big no. Also, some medications. If you have any existing conditions like thyroid, like I did, make sure to have regular check-ups with your doctor, they'll guide you best on everything.
Amma and athai always say to avoid certain hot foods or heavy spices during pregnancy, but mainly it's about staying away from alcohol, smoking, and unhygienic food. Raw seafood also not good. Always listen to your gynac, darling, they know best for you and baby. Eat simple, wholesome food.
I totally understand how overwhelming it can feel to know what to avoid and what's safe! The most important things are alcohol, smoking, and any illicit drugs. Then, raw or undercooked meats, unpasteurized dairy, and high-mercury fish like shark or swordfish. It feels like a lot, but your doctor will guide you through it beautifully.
Mainly, avoid alcohol, smoking, and recreational drugs, those are absolute musts. Also, try to stay away from unpasteurised foods, raw fish/meat, and excessively oily or spicy foods that might cause discomfort. Focus on fresh, home-cooked, balanced meals. Don't overthink, just make healthy choices and enjoy your pregnancy!
Beyond the obvious like alcohol and raw foods, I'd say also avoid really strong smells or very spicy/oily foods, especially if you're having bad morning sickness. For me, even certain perfumes or garlic smells would trigger nausea. Listen to your body and what it can tolerate, and definitely check with your doc about anything specific you're worried about.
