What to eat during pregnancy to increase breast milk?
Im 7 months along and my mom keeps telling me to start eating certain things now so milk comes properly later. MIL says different stuff. Bit confused yaar, what actually worked for you all?
I felt so worried initially that my milk was less. My mom made me eat sabudana, dalia, methi dana and kept giving me warm milk. Slowly it picked up. Honestly frequent feeding helped me most.
My amma gave me garlic in food, milk with palm sugar and lots of rasam rice. Worked for me. But every body different na, if you feel milk is really low do talk to a lactation person or your doctor.
For me oats, methi, and lots of water made a real difference. Also the more baby feeds the more milk comes, demand and supply. Don't lose hope in first few days, it builds up slowly.
Realistically, hydration matters a lot, I kept a big water bottle near me always. Oats porridge, dry fruits, dal, normal home food. And feed often. No magic food, just good meals and rest where you can grab it.
Beta in our time we gave gond ke laddoo, ajwain, jeera water and dry fruits to new mothers. These help. But also eat proper meals and rest, milk needs a calm fed mother. Ask doc before any supplement though.
First please don't stress, stress itself reduces milk, I learnt that hard way. I ate methi, sabudana kheer and lots of dal chawal. Skin to skin and frequent latching helped more than any one food honestly.
With both kids what worked: eat enough, don't skip meals, drink water like crazy, and feed on demand. Methi and oats are good helpers but feeding frequency is the real thing. Don't starve yourself trying to lose weight now.
