Me and my husband are planning to start trying in a few months and i want to get my body ready properly. Thinking about what foods to add to my diet from now itself. Would love to hear what worked for you ladies.
You dont need expensive supplements yaar. Simple home food does the job, dal chawal, sabzi, seasonal fruits, sprouts. Maybe get basic tests done like Hb and thyroid before planning so you know where you stand. Folic acid tablet is cheap, ask doc.
My mother always said eat warm home cooked food, include curry leaves, dals, ragi. Keep it simple and fresh na. But the folic acid part definitely ask your doctor, that one is important before pregnancy.
With my PCOS my doc focused on cutting refined carbs and adding more protein and fiber before conceiving. Everyone's body is different though, so a quick chat with your gynac about diet helps. Folic acid is usually started early for everyone.
Start folic acid before conceiving, that's the main thing, ask your doc to start it. Otherwise just eat balanced, green veggies, dals, fruits, milk, eggs if you eat. Cut down on too much junk and caffeine. Nothing fancy needed honestly.
Along with good food I'd say start a healthy routine too, light walking helped me feel better. Focus on iron and folate rich stuff, like spinach, beetroot, dates. And drink enough water. But do start folic acid only after doc says.
