What to eat to reduce sugar level during pregnancy?
My gtt came slightly high and gynac said to watch my diet first before anything else. Im so confused what to add and what to cut in my daily food. Mommies who managed this through eating, what worked for u?
Focus on high fibre and protein, like sprouts, green veggies, eggs, nuts in small amount. Avoid juice and sugary stuff. And eat smaller portions more often instead of big meals, it keeps sugar steady.
My doctor told me to pair carbs with protein so sugar doesnt spike, like roti with dal or sabzi instead of plain. Also a short walk after meals helped my readings a lot. Keep monitoring as she advised and adjust.
I had GD so I get this. What helped me was cutting white rice and sweets, eating more dal, veggies, paneer and small frequent meals. But honestly please go to a dietitian your gynac suggests, because the right plan depends on your numbers.
Generally whole grains, vegetables and protein help, and cutting refined sugar and maida. But sugar in pregnancy is serious enough that your doctor should guide the exact diet. Dont self manage it fully.
My amma kept reminding me to eat home cooked simple food and avoid sweets when my sugar was borderline. Things like ragi, vegetables, curd helped. But I still followed my doctor's chart strictly, that is most important.
