I am trying to add more sabzi but I dont know which ones are best and which to avoid. I mostly eat home food only. Which vegetables did your doc or elders suggest?
You should aim for a variety of green leafy vegetables like spinach (palak), fenugreek (methi), and broccoli. Also, root vegetables like carrots and beetroot are great. And don't forget bottle gourd (lauki), ridge gourd (tori) and other seasonal gourds – they are hydrating and easy to digest. Just ensure everything is thoroughly washed and well-cooked. Variety is key.
Best to eat all seasonal veggies, yaar. Like palak, lauki, tori, gajar, beans – whatever is fresh and easily available at your local sabzi mandi. Just make sure to wash them really well before cooking. Don't go for exotic, expensive ones if you can't find them fresh. Simple, nutritious, and affordable is the way to go during pregnancy.
With twins, I felt like I was eating for three whole people! 😅 So, I just focused on eating ALL the veggies, honestly. Lots of palak, methi, gajar, beetroot. Anything green and fresh was on my plate. Just make sure they're super clean and well-cooked, no half-cooked stuff. You need all the vitamins you can get!
Beta, our grandmothers always said to eat seasonal vegetables, and it's true, they are the best. Green leafy vegetables like palak and sarson ka saag are very good for you and the baby. Gajar, matar, gobi, lauki – all these are good. Just make sure they are fresh from the market and cleaned properly. Don't eat anything raw, always cooked food. And listen to your elders at home, they know best.
For vegetables, the general rule is to eat a wide variety of fresh, seasonal options. Green leafy vegetables like spinach (palak), methi, and saag are excellent for iron and folate. Other good choices include carrots, beetroot, broccoli, bell peppers, and all the common gourds like lauki, tori, tinda. Always wash them very well and cook them properly. Avoid raw sprouts, though.
Oh, the food rules can be so overwhelming, right? I used to worry about every single thing! But for veggies, most are good. Focus on greens like spinach and fenugreek, and also root veggies like carrots and beetroot. Just ensure they are washed super thoroughly and cooked completely. If you're unsure about any specific veggie, a quick call to your gynac can clear things up and ease your mind.
All the lovely, colourful veggies are your friends! 🌈 Think spinach, broccoli, carrots, beetroot, pumpkin, and all those yummy gourds like lauki and tori. Just make sure they're super fresh and cooked properly. Add a rainbow to your plate for you and baby! 🤰💚 But of course, anything your doctor has specifically advised against, avoid that. 😊
