What will happen if sugar level is high during pregnancy?
My sugar came out slightly high in the recent test and now im worried about what it means for the baby. Doc has called me for a follow up. In the meantime, what does high sugar actually do during pregnancy? Bit anxious.
When mine was borderline I had to plan my meals around work which was tough but doable. Cutting sugary tea and snacks, adding a short walk after lunch helped a lot. Keep a glucometer at home if doctor advises, makes tracking easy.
My doctor said uncontrolled sugar in pregnancy can affect both mom and baby, like big baby size, low sugar in baby after birth and sometimes early delivery. The good news is it is very manageable with monitoring and diet. She made me do the GTT test and gave a clear food plan.
Please dont ignore high sugar, it really needs proper monitoring. I had a friend who took it casually and faced problems later. Regular checkups and following the doctor's diet and sometimes medicine keeps everything safe.
I had gestational diabetes so I can share my real experience. High sugar can make the baby grow bigger and cause delivery issues if not controlled, that is what my doctor explained. But with diet, small frequent meals and walks I kept it in check and had a healthy baby. Please follow your gynac strictly, dont take it lightly.
With my PCOS background I was at higher risk so I watched it closely. I dont want to scare you because it is very controllable, but it does need attention. Your gynac will guide diet and check baby's growth, so stay regular with appointments.
