I used to do yoga daily before and want to continue but safely now that im 14 weeks. Not sure which poses are a no-no during pregnancy, dont want to do anything that strains the belly. Anyone who kept up their practice, what did u avoid?
My mother in law also encouraged gentle yoga but I avoided strong stomach poses and deep bends. A prenatal trained teacher is best, they know what to skip. And do take your doctor's clearance once before you begin.
I was nervous to even start yoga but my teacher said avoid twists, inversions and tummy pressing poses. Now I just do gentle stretching and it feels nice. Anyone else find prenatal yoga helped with the back ache?
My instructor told me to avoid deep twists, lying flat on back for long, intense backbends and anything that presses the belly. I only did prenatal yoga after my gynac cleared me. Please do it under someone trained, not random youtube.
No lying flat on tummy, no hard twists or inversions, and dont push into anything that strains the core. I did light prenatal yoga both pregnancies and it really helped with back pain. Get your gynac's okay before starting.
From what my doctor and prenatal teacher said, skip strong abdominal poses, deep twists, inversions, jumping and holding breath. Gentle stretches and breathing are great instead. Best to join a proper prenatal class so they modify poses for you.
