My doctor mentioned NST may be done later because of my BP monitoring. I forgot to ask in which week it usually starts. Is it painful or just like normal checkup?
My doctor started NST around 32-34 weeks and then more often near the due date. She said its just to check baby's heartbeat with movements, totally painless. They strap two belts on your tummy and you press a button when baby kicks.
Usually third trimester onwards, especially after 34-36 weeks or earlier if there's any issue like high BP or low movement. With my second they did it weekly near the end. Nothing to worry, its routine.
In my case because i had GD they started NST a bit early to keep an eye on the baby. So the timing really depends on your situation, your gynac decides. If baby's movements feel less anytime, ask for one immediately.
I felt so nervous before my first NST but it was just lying down and listening to the heartbeat for like 20-30 mins. Honestly it was the most relaxing test, i loved hearing the baby. Mine started in the last month.
