When calcium tablets should be taken in pregnancy?
Doc gave me calcium along with iron but i read somewhere u shouldnt take both together. Im confused matlab morning or night, with food ya empty stomach? Anyone clear on this?
My gynac told me that calcium tablets are usually prescribed from the second trimester onwards, sometimes even from the end of the first trimester, to support the baby's bone development and maintain maternal bone health. It's important to take them regularly as prescribed, usually with food for better absorption, but avoid taking them at the exact same time as iron tablets, as they can interfere with each other's absorption.
I'm still trying to conceive, but I've heard that doctors prescribe calcium tablets a little later in pregnancy. I guess it's when the baby starts growing bones properly, no? I'll definitely ask my doctor when it's my turn.
Oh, taking any tablet with morning sickness was a struggle! My doctor prescribed calcium from the second trimester. If you're struggling to keep them down, ask your gynac if you can try taking them at a different time of day or with a specific type of food that settles your stomach. Don't skip them, they're important.
Calcium is very important, but when exactly to start and what dosage totally depends on your individual needs and doctor's advice. With my complications, my doctor adjusted my supplements frequently. So please, please ask your own gynac for precise guidance, don't rely on general advice for this.
