My gynac told me the blood beta hCG can pick it up about 8 to 11 days after ovulation, earlier than urine kits. That is why they prefer blood when timing is uncertain. It also gives a number, which helps track if levels are rising properly.
Blood test is the earliest and most accurate way, days before the urine strip would show. If you cant wait for the missed period, go for the blood test. But honestly most people just do a kit after the period is late, simpler.
In our IVF journey we did the beta hCG blood test on a fixed day the clinic told us. It was the most reliable confirmation. That waiting period is tough emotionally, so be gentle with yourself till the result comes.
