My test is positive but scan is still 2 weeks away and i keep reading scary stuff online. At what week can they actually tell if its ectopic? just want to know so i can ask my gynac properly.
It's usually picked up in early weeks through hcg blood tests and an early scan, often around 5 to 7 weeks when they cant see the pregnancy in the right place. If you have one sided pain or spotting in early pregnancy please go in immediately, dont wait. This is one thing you really get checked fast.
I've been through a hard early loss so I'm careful with these things. Ectopic is usually caught in those first few weeks with scan and hcg. Please if anything feels off, severe pain, shoulder tip pain, dizziness, get to a doctor at once. Take care of yourself.
My doctor explained they suspect it when hcg is rising but the scan doesn't show a pregnancy in the uterus, usually in the first several weeks. Sometimes they repeat the hcg and scan a few days apart to confirm. Early scan is key for this.
Mostly it shows up early, in the first month or two, through scans and blood tests. If your doctor is monitoring you in early pregnancy they keep an eye out for it. Just don't ignore sharp one sided pain, go and get seen.
