im 10 weeks and was very into yoga before. miss it a lot actually. is the first trimester safe to start prenatal yoga or should i wait till 12 weeks? want to ask my doc too but curious what u all did.
Please be extremely careful with yoga. I had minor bleeding in my first trimester, so my doctor strictly put me on bed rest and banned yoga or any exercise. Never start yoga without asking your gynecologist first, as some conditions require complete rest.
Personally, I started doing light yoga and stretching after my 14th week scan when my doctor said everything is normal. It really helped me with my leg cramps and sleep quality. But I always checked with my instructor before trying any new pose.
Since mine was an IVF pregnancy, I was very protective of my body and didn't do any yoga until the 16th week. Even then, I only did basic breathing exercises with my doctor's permission. Listen to your body and don't push yourself if you feel any fatigue.
Oh, don't rush into it too early! I waited until my 5th month when my energy levels came back. Yoga is amazing for flexibility and breathing during labor, but even simple 20-minute daily walks are more than enough if you don't find time for proper yoga.
I recently delivered and I did yoga throughout my second and third trimesters. I started exactly at 14 weeks once my morning sickness got better. It made my delivery so much smoother, but please do it under a certified trainer only.
My saas was very scared when I mentioned yoga in the first trimester and asked me to just rest. Actually, it's best to wait till the 3rd month is over. I started gentle stretches from the 4th month onwards and it really helped with my back pain.
You should ideally start only after completing 12 weeks, as the first trimester is quite sensitive. Since I had a busy job, I joined an online evening class for just 30 minutes. It's great for stress, but don't do any complex poses without your doctor's clearance.
