Im in my second trimester and recently noticed some changes in my breasts. Got me wondering when the milk actually starts coming in. Is it during pregnancy itself or only after delivery?
My doctor told me the breasts start preparing colostrum around mid pregnancy, but mature milk usually arrives 2-4 days postpartum once the hormones shift after birth. So leaking earlier is normal and so is no leaking, both fine.
The first milk, colostrum, can actually start forming from around the second trimester, some leak a little in later months. The full milk really comes in a few days after delivery though. Everyone is a bit different so dont compare.
I was wondering the same and got worried because I see nothing yet. Apparently colostrum can come later in pregnancy and the real milk after delivery. Did others also not leak early and were okay?
From my recent experience, I noticed a tiny bit of leaking in the last months, that yellowish colostrum. The proper milk flow kicked in about 3 days after my baby was born. It felt sudden honestly.
