Got my positive test last week and my gynac told me some number of weeks but honestly im confused. Matlab is it counted from the last period date or from conception? Anyone explain in simple words?
Hey, don't stress too much about the exact days! It's counted from the first day of your last period, even though you weren't actually pregnant then. Crazy, right?
It is usually calculated from the first day of your last period. I know how anxious this waiting and counting phase can make you feel, so please take deep breaths and take it one day at a time.
You count it from the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP). I used Flo and BabyCenter apps, they automatically calculate the weeks for you once you put that date.
I used to be so confused by this, but yes, it's from the day your last period started. When my baby was a toddler, I realized these dates are just estimates anyway, so don't sweat it.
Medically, we calculate gestational age from the first day of your LMP. The scan around 8-12 weeks will give you a more accurate due date based on baby's growth anyway.
Ugh, the math is so weird! You count from your last period's start date, so you are technically 'pregnant' before the action even happened. Currently in my 3rd trimester and counting down the days to sleep!
