I read about internal os in my scan report and got curious about when it actually opens. Im in 6th month and everything is fine so far, just trying to understand the whole process better. Can someone who knows explain a little?
I went through this and it can be a sensitive topic. The os usually opens at labour but can open early in some cases. Pls dont stress alone, talk to your gynac and they will keep checking it for you.
Normally the internal os stays closed through pregnancy and only starts opening near labour. My doctor monitored mine on scans because of a cervix concern, so this is something they track if needed.
It should stay shut till close to term. If its opening early thats cervical incompetence and needs doctor attention, sometimes a stitch is done. If you're worried about this please get a cervical scan.
