First time mom here and just curious about how this whole thing works. does the milk only come after delivery or can it start before also? im in my 6th month.
I worried my milk wouldnt come because of my c-section but it came in about 3-4 days after delivery, just slightly later than normal delivery sometimes. During pregnancy I barely noticed anything till the last weeks when a bit of colostrum leaked. Be patient, it comes.
Colostrum forms from around 16-20 weeks but real milk flow starts after the baby arrives, usually within 2-4 days. Frequent feeding right after birth boosts it fast. So nothing to do during pregnancy, just let it happen.
Your body actually starts making the first milk, colostrum, around the second trimester, some women leak a little later on. The fuller milk supply really comes in a few days after delivery. Dont worry if you dont see much during pregnancy, thats completely normal.
I noticed a tiny yellowish leak recently and got worried, is that the colostrum already? Im only in my 6th month. Did this happen to you all too this early?
