Im in my 5th month and noticed my breasts feeling fuller and a bit different lately. Got me wondering when the milk actually starts forming inside. Is it already happening this early or much later? curious to know ur experiences.
Colostrum forms from around 16 weeks but you may not notice anything. Full milk supply kicks in 2-4 days postpartum. Both my kids it was the same, dont stress if nothing leaks during pregnancy, thats normal too.
My amma told me not to worry about it during pregnancy at all, milk really comes properly after baby arrives and the more baby feeds the more it builds. The early stuff is just the body preparing slowly.
The body actually starts preparing quite early, around the second trimester. The first milk colostrum can even leak a little in later months for some. Proper milk comes in a few days after delivery though, dont panic if it feels slow at first.
I felt my breasts getting heavy and a bit tender by around month 5. Around month 7 I saw a tiny yellowish drop once and got scared, but my doctor said its totally normal, the body is just getting ready.
For me hardly anything during pregnancy, then after delivery on day 3 it suddenly came in a rush. Felt overwhelming honestly. So if you feel nothing now its completely fine, the real thing is after.
