I used a period tracker app and it marked my fertile window in the middle of the cycle. It's not right after periods for most people. If you want accuracy, ovulation strips plus an app combo works pretty well.
My doctor explained ovulation usually happens roughly around day 14 of a 28 day cycle, counting from the first day of your period. The few days around ovulation are the most fertile. But cycles vary a lot, so it shifts person to person.
It's around the middle of your cycle when you ovulate, thats when conceiving chances are highest. For a 28 day cycle that's roughly two weeks after your period starts. If your cycle is irregular it's harder to pin down, an ovulation kit helps.
Just a note, if you have irregular cycles like me with PCOS, ovulation timing can be all over the place. So the standard day 14 thing didnt apply to me. A doctor or tracking kit helped figure out my actual window.
