I read about this hook effect thing online and got a little confused tbh. My test was faint even though i feel pregnant, so now im wondering at what stage this happens. Anyone know more about it?
it starts around the end of the first trimester because of high hormone levels. if you really want to test, just dilute your urine with a little water first and it should show positive.
oh this made me panic so much in my 9th week when my test line suddenly became so faint! it is just the hook effect because of too much hcg, so please don't lose your sleep over it like i did.
look, this usually happens in the late first trimester when your hcg levels are too high for a home test to read properly. stop taking pregnancy tests at 10 or 12 weeks, it will only give you useless stress.
it typically happens after 8 to 10 weeks because of very high hcg levels. but if you are experiencing any pain or bleeding, please don't just assume it is the hook effect and go see your gynac immediately.
honestly, why are you still pee-testing at this stage haha! it usually starts around week 9 or 10 when hcg is peak, making the test look negative unless you dilute urine.
