When does uterus return to normal size after pregnancy?
I delivered 3 weeks back and my stomach still feels swollen and hard sometimes. I know body takes time but I don't know what is normal. Around when did your uterus or tummy feel smaller?
Breastfeeding actually speeds it up, the hormones make the uterus contract. I'd feel cramps while feeding in the first week or two. By around 6 weeks it's mostly back. Body is amazing honestly.
It takes about 6 weeks to shrink back to near normal size, that whole phase is called involution. I remember those after-pains while feeding, that's literally the uterus contracting back. It does happen, just give it time.
Roughly 6 weeks for the uterus to return to its size. The belly looking flat is a separate thing and takes longer, don't confuse the two. At your 6 week postnatal checkup the doc confirms involution is done.
After my C-section the uterus still shrinks in about 6 weeks like normal, the difference is the incision healing takes its own time. Be patient and don't compare your tummy to others, every recovery is different.
