Im 7 months now and getting a little anxious about the whole delivery process. Just trying to understand when this starts happening, is it only near labour or earlier? Pls share what u know.
For me it really started opening only when labour began near the end. They check it in the last weeks and during labour. Stayed closed the whole pregnancy which is how its supposed to be.
Both times mine stayed shut till the very end and then dilated during labour itself. They start doing the internal checks in the final weeks. Dont worry about it before that, the doctor tracks it.
I had an issue where mine started changing earlier, so I just want to say if u feel pressure, cramping or any leaking before time, please call ur gynac. Normally it opens near labour, but always get checked if something feels off.
My doctor explained the cervix normally stays closed through pregnancy and only starts to open and soften as labour approaches, usually around the due date. They measure dilation when u are close. Earlier opening is something they monitor, so trust ur checkups.
