Im 36 weeks now and my doc keeps checking if the baby's head is engaged. Im a first timer so dont fully understand when it usually happens. Can someone explain around which week this normally starts?
Look, for first-time moms it usually happens around 34 to 36 weeks, but for second baby it can happen right before labor. Don't stress, your gynac will check this in your regular scans anyway.
I just delivered recently and my baby's head engaged around week 36. You will suddenly feel a lot of pressure down there and lighter in your chest, it's a very distinct feeling!
It normally happens in the last few weeks of pregnancy, making it easier to breathe. Just take rest and trust your body to do its job when the time comes.
Engagement usually happens after 34 weeks, but if you feel intense pressure or any fluid leaking along with it, please consult your doctor immediately to prevent any complications.
I am currently 35 weeks and feeling a lot of pressure in my pelvis, so I wonder if my baby's head has engaged too. Did your doctor confirm it during an exam?
For me, it happened around 37 weeks, and suddenly my stomach felt lighter and I could actually eat a full meal without heartburn, haha! The downward pressure is real though.
It's like the baby is finally packing bags and getting into position, usually around 36 weeks! You'll feel like you're walking like a penguin, but it means you're getting closer.
