Im going for my first scan soon and im so anxious to hear the heartbeat. Around which week does it usually show up on the scan? this is my first pregnancy so everything is new to me.
My doctor explained the heartbeat usually starts around 5-6 weeks but it's often detectable on the ultrasound closer to 6-7 weeks. Sometimes if it's a bit early they ask you to come back in a week or so to confirm, that's normal, dont panic if it's not seen on the very first scan.
Usually by about 6 to 7 weeks beta, on the ultrasound. If your dating is slightly off they might not catch it first time and ask you back, dont read it as bad news. Stay calm and trust the process.
I'll never forget hearing it, around 6-7 weeks they saw a flicker on the scan and by 8 weeks we actually heard it. I cried right there in the room, it felt so real then. Yours will come, that wait for the first heartbeat is the longest few weeks ever.
