Im 36 weeks now and my gynac mentioned internal os during checkup. I got confused na, like at what point does it actually start opening? Just trying to understand what to expect before delivery.
The internal os stays tightly closed to keep the baby safe inside and opens during active labor. Since any early opening is a medical concern, only your gynac can evaluate this after a proper scan. Make sure you are also eating nutritious food to keep your strength up, but let the doctors handle the medical side.
The os opening up early is not normal and is something your doctor needs to monitor. If you have been doing pregnancy walks or yoga, please stop immediately and get your gynac's clearance first. They will advise you if complete bed rest is needed to keep the baby safe.
Ideally, the os only opens at the very end when your body prepares for delivery. Early dilation can cause complications, so if you are experiencing any pain or bleeding, go see your doctor immediately. Try to rest as much as you can and don't stress your body right now.
The internal os should ideally remain closed throughout the pregnancy and only open when you go into labor near your due date. If there is any early opening or shortening shown in your scans, it is a serious thing that requires immediate medical attention. Please contact your doctor directly instead of trying to figure it out yourself.
Oh sweetie, I know how scary all these medical terms sound when you are holding your baby inside. The internal os is supposed to open only when you are in labor to let the baby out. If you feel any sudden pressure, cramping, or watery discharge, please call your gynac right away.
