My gynac mentioned cervix checking at one of the visits but i forgot to ask when exactly it happens. Im in second trimester now and a bit nervous about it. At what stage do they usually do this?
My gynac explained that internal cervix checks usually start near due date, around 37-38 weeks, to assess for labour. Before that its mostly via ultrasound if needed. She said its not done routinely every visit.
In my case they checked cervix length early on scan because I had a previous issue. If you have any history of preterm or bleeding pls mention it to your doctor, they may monitor it more closely.
Usually they check towards the end, last few weeks, to see if its softening and dilating. Earlier in pregnancy they mostly look at cervix length on scan if theres any concern. Your gynac decides based on your case.
I was nervous about this too. My doctor said she wont do internal checks unless theres a reason or until close to due date. Felt better knowing it isnt every appointment.
