Trying to understand the whole hcg thing as im in my 2ww and testing soon. From which point does the body actually start making it? want to know when its worth testing.
From what my doctor explained, hcg starts being produced once the embryo implants in the uterus, usually around a week or so after ovulation. That's why home tests work best a few days after a missed period, the level needs time to build up. Testing too early can show false negative.
I learnt a lot about hcg during my IVF days. The body starts making it right after the embryo settles in, and then it climbs day by day in the beginning. The waiting for it to rise was the hardest part for me. Hang in there if you're in that window.
My app showed it nicely, hcg begins after implantation and the level doubles roughly every couple of days at first. That's why it suggested testing after the missed period for accuracy. The early rise charts were quite fascinating to watch.
It kicks in after implantation, so roughly a week after conception, and then it rises fast in early weeks. That's the hormone tests pick up. If you test too soon there isn't enough of it yet, so wait till period is due.
