When is the first visit to the doctor for pregnancy?
Tested positive yesterday and im honestly so confused when im supposed to actually go to the gynac. Should i rush now or wait few weeks? first time so no idea.
For those of us who went through IVF, that first doctor visit is very carefully scheduled at exactly 6 weeks for the viability scan. It's a very emotional day, so please go whenever your doctor advises and take deep breaths.
I went as soon as I got my positive test at 5 weeks, and thank god I did because we found two tiny heartbeats! Ideally, 6 to 8 weeks is the sweet spot, so don't delay it too much.
It is extremely important to book your appointment as soon as you get a positive home test. Your gynac needs to confirm the pregnancy via scan or blood test to make sure everything is safe and in the right place.
My MIL suggested waiting for a couple of weeks, but I still went to the doctor at around 6 weeks. It's always better to get the basic vitamins started early and clear any doubts you have.
I just delivered a few months ago, and I remember calling my gynac the very next day after my positive urine test! They booked my first scan at 7 weeks to check the heartbeat, which was the most beautiful feeling.
I went around the 7th week to get my first scan done. While you can manage mild early symptoms at home with ginger tea or resting, seeing the doctor early is important to get your folic acid prescription.
Actually, standard medical guidelines suggest scheduling your first prenatal visit between 6 and 8 weeks. My doctor explained that this timing is perfect for the first dating scan to check the viability and heartbeat.
