I'm about 20 weeks pregnant and sometimes I feel a little wetness, and when I check, it looks like a clear liquid from my breast. Is this normal? When does breast milk typically start to come in during pregnancy?
Leaking during the third trimester is quite normal. I asked my lactation consultant at the hospital about it, and she said it's just colostrum and nothing to worry about. Don't try to squeeze it out.
Actually, breast milk or colostrum can leak anytime from the second trimester onwards, or not at all until birth. Both scenarios are perfectly normal. Just check with your gynac if you notice any blood or pain.
Oh, with my twins, I started leaking slightly around month 7! I was like, "Are we open for business already?" It's totally normal, just use breast pads if it ruins your clothes.
For some, a few drops of yellow liquid (colostrum) can leak in the 2nd or 3rd trimester. Since I had thyroid issues, I made sure to discuss every small change with my doctor during regular follow-ups.
