We have a family wedding coming up and its a long train journey. Im 7 months. Just want to know till when its safe and when i should avoid travelling. Anyone travelled at this stage?
I totally understand how much you might want to visit your family or go on a babymoon, but your safety is most important. Try to avoid travel in the last few weeks so you are close to your doctor when baby decides to arrive. Sending you lots of love and prayers.
Beta, in the first three months and the last month of pregnancy, it is best to avoid travel and rest at home. If you must go somewhere short, carry some ginger candies for nausea, but don't travel on bumpy roads or in autos. Take care of yourself.
I am currently in my 28th week and my doctor strictly told me no long road trips or flights from now on. Actually, are you planning to travel soon, or is it just for an emergency? Better to double check with your gynac once before booking any tickets.
I can only share what my doctor told me, which was to avoid any travel during the first trimester due to risk of complications, and to completely stop traveling by air after 32 weeks. It's always best to ask your own gynaecologist because every pregnancy is unique.
Avoid traveling in your first trimester if you have severe nausea, and definitely skip long travel after 36 weeks. As a working mom, I had to travel, so I made sure to take walking breaks every hour and always carried my medical files. Plan your trips around the second trimester, it's much easier.
Because of my thyroid and blood pressure checks, I had to see my doctor every few weeks, so I completely avoided long-distance travel in my first and third trimesters. Please check with your doctor and get your routine tests done before planning any travel.
Unless you want to deliver your baby in the middle of a flight or a bumpy highway, please avoid traveling in your ninth month! The second trimester is the sweet spot when you actually have the energy to step out without feeling like a walking potato!
Avoid traveling on bumpy roads, local autos, or long train journeys in the first three months and after seven months. If you absolutely have to travel, choose the most comfortable AC train or car, keep pillows for back support, and carry your own clean water.
I know how stressful it is to make these decisions when you are worried about the baby's safety, your anxiety is completely valid. It is generally safest to avoid traveling if you have any complications like spotting or cramps. Take a deep breath and do what feels safest for your mind.
Looking back, the second trimester was the best time for a short trip, because once the third trimester hit, I couldn't even sit comfortably in a car! Avoid traveling in the late months and just relax at home. Enjoy this quiet time before your little toddler keeps you running!
