Im 9 weeks and reading a lot about how everything develops. Heard the placenta takes over at some point but not sure when exactly. Just curious to understand the timeline, can someone explain?
My doc explained it starts forming very early after implantation but fully takes over around 12 weeks. Before that the yolk sac supports baby. The scan around 11-12 weeks usually shows it nicely.
It develops gradually through first trimester and is well set by start of second. Your gynac tracks its position in scans. Best to ask at ur next visit for exact details.
