Im on progesterone support and the doc said at some point the placenta takes over. Im 10 weeks now. Just wanted to know around which week this happens, kind of waiting for that phase honestly.
By about the third month the placenta is in full control of nourishing the baby. That's why people say things get a little easier after the first 12 weeks. Just keep going, your body knows what it's doing.
Roughly by the end of the first trimester, around 10-12 weeks, the placenta is running the show. Before that the corpus luteum handles the hormones. Many women feel better after this shift because the worst of the morning sickness settles.
My doctor told me the placenta starts taking over hormone production from the corpus luteum around weeks 8 to 12, and by the end of the first trimester (around 12 weeks) it's pretty much fully in charge. That's actually one reason the early nausea often eases up around then.
Oh is that why I suddenly felt less sick after week 12? My doctor said something similar about the placenta taking charge by then. Did others also notice their nausea drop around the same time? It felt like such a relief.
