It's not instant, my gynac explained the sperm can survive a few days and fertilisation happens around ovulation. Then implantation takes about 6 to 10 days more. So the whole process can take up to a couple of weeks after intercourse.
Conception only happens if you're near ovulation, and even then implantation takes several days. That's why a test only works reliably after your missed period. Dont expect symptoms the next morning, it doesnt work that fast.
