When should i go for first ultrasound in pregnancy?
Just got my positive test 2 days back and im super excited but clueless. I dont want to go too early or too late. When did you all go for your first scan?
My doctor called me for the first scan around 6 to 8 weeks, mainly to confirm the location and heartbeat. Some doctors wait a bit longer if everything is normal. Best is to book your first gynac visit after a positive test and she'll tell you the exact timing.
Just a tip, dont go get random scans before your appointment, you'll only repeat them. Let the doctor write which scan and when, saves money. My first was around 7 weeks and the dating scan timing actually matters for accuracy.
I went around week 7 and seeing the little flicker of heartbeat made me cry honestly. Did others go that early too? My gynac said early scan just confirms its in the right place, so dont stress if yours is scheduled a bit later.
Dont rush to a scan center on your own. Go to your gynac first, she'll do the basics and then tell you when to do the dating scan, usually 6 to 9 weeks. Each one after that she'll schedule herself.
