My home test came positive a few days ago and im so eager to actually see something on the scan. But i dont want to rush to the clinic too early and come back with nothing visible. At how many weeks does the ultrasound usually show the baby? when did u get ur first scan?
Dont rush for a scan the moment u get a positive test. Around 6-7 weeks is when the early scan usually shows the sac and heartbeat properly. Going too early can mean nothing visible yet and unnecessary worry.
I was wondering this too! My gynac told me to wait till about 6 weeks for the first scan after my positive test. Did urs make u wait as well? The wait felt so long to me honestly.
My doctor explained that the gestational sac can usually be seen on ultrasound around 5-6 weeks, and the heartbeat a bit later, roughly 6-7 weeks. Before that its often too early even if ur test is positive, so they sometimes ask u to come back after a week.
I went for my first scan too early at 5 weeks and felt scared when they couldnt see much. Went back at 7 weeks and there was the heartbeat, I cried. So give it a little time, its worth the wait.
No need to hurry to the scan room beta. The early ultrasound is generally done around 6 to 7 weeks so the doctor can see the heartbeat clearly. Let ur gynac decide the right date for u and try to stay relaxed till then.
