When to do blood test for pregnancy?

My home test showed positive yesterday but everyone says go for blood test to be sure. How many days after missed period should i actually go for it? Dont want to do it too early and waste the trip.

My doctor said the blood test (beta hCG) can pick it up even earlier than the urine kit, around the time ur period is due or a couple days before. Its the most accurate way to confirm.
