Just got my pregnancy confirmed last week and so excited but also clueless about the timeline. Wondering when the first scan usually happens and how many are needed. First timer here.
My gynac scheduled the first sonography around 6 to 8 weeks for dating, then the NT scan near 12 weeks, the anomaly scan around 20 weeks, and growth scans in the last trimester. She said timing can shift based on your case. Just follow the schedule your own doctor gives.
I was unsure when each scan happens too. So far I have had the dating and NT, anomaly is next. Did others feel a flutter of nerves and excitement before each one, seeing the baby on screen is the best part.
Just plan ahead, the scans recur through the pregnancy and cost adds up. I checked if my hospital had a package covering them. Roughly expect a dating, NT, anomaly and a couple of growth scans.
