My MIL keeps saying castor oil helps with delivery and I should start having it. Im a bit confused honestly, is there even a right time for this or is it just a ghar wala thing? Pls share if anyone has actually done this.
Beta in olden days some used it but we did not know the risks then. I would not suggest taking it by yourself now. If your time is near and you want something, ask your doctor first, they know best these days.
Please please dont drink castor oil on your own during pregnancy. I have heard it can trigger strong cramps and contractions which can be risky. If you are thinking about it for labour, only do anything your gynac specifically advises.
I delivered just a few weeks back and people did suggest castor oil near my due date. I checked with my doctor and she clearly said no. I am glad I asked instead of trying it on my own.
Honestly I would say avoid it unless your doctor tells you to. People talk about castor oil to start labour at the end but it can cause bad diarrhoea and cramps. Dont experiment with these things yaar, let the doctor decide.
I actually asked my gynac about this exact thing. She said castor oil is not recommended in pregnancy because it can cause dehydration and uncontrolled contractions. She said there are much safer ways if labour needs help, all under medical supervision.
