My mother-in-law keeps telling me to drink milk with kesar (saffron) for a healthy baby. I'm wondering when is the right time to start consuming it during pregnancy and what are its benefits.
I started having kesar milk daily from my 5th month onwards. Just 2-3 strands in warm milk at night is more than enough. Don't start it in the first trimester as it generates heat in the body.
Since I had gestational diabetes, I had to be very careful with milk drinks. I started kesar in my 6th month but without adding any sugar or honey to the milk. If your sugar levels are normal, 2 strands in milk after the 5th month is safe.
Kesar thoda mehenga hota hai toh fake waale se bachkar rehna. 5th ya 6th month se start karo aur bas thoda sa hi dalo doodh me. Isse digestion bhi badhiya rehta hai aur faltoo kharcha bhi nahi hota.
Oh god, kesar milk was the only good thing about my late-night pregnancy insomnia! I started around the 5th month because everyone said it helps with sleep. Honestly, it did soothe me, though my sleep is completely gone now with the newborn!
Kesar is great for muscle relaxation, especially when you are doing light yoga under expert guidance. I started taking 2 strands in my post-walk evening milk during my 2nd trimester. Just check with your dietitian or doctor on the correct timing.
My mother-in-law recently told me that kesar milk is very good, but only to be taken after the first trimester is safely over. I am still trying to conceive right now, but I have noted this down for the future. Wishing you a healthy journey!
Beta, 5 mahine pure hone ke baad hi kesar shuru karna chahiye. Hamare yahan kehte hain ki tab tak baccha acche se set ho jata hai pet me. Roz raat ko garam doodh me do dhaage daal kar piyo, achhi neend aayegi.
Haha, my MIL started nagging me about kesar from day one so the baby would be 'fair'! I started it after my 20-week scan just to keep her happy and satisfy my sweet milk cravings. Just use 2 strands, don't make it a saffron soup!
Meri dadi saas ne mujhe strict instructions di thi ki 5th month se pehle kesar ko haath bhi nahi lagana hai. Actually, 2nd trimester se start karna hi safe hota hai aur tab baby ke movements bhi feel hone lagte hain. Milk me mila kar lijiye, bahut aaram milta hai.
Since my pregnancy was a bit sensitive due to PCOS, I waited until my 6th month to start kesar. It can stimulate contractions if taken in large quantities early on, so please be cautious. Just use one or two strands in milk after consulting your doctor.
I’m in my 16th week now and thinking of starting it soon. My gynac said it's safe in the second trimester, but only in very tiny amounts. Are you guys using Kashmiri kesar or any organic brand?
With twins, I had double the advice coming from everyone! My doctor said 5th month is the right time to start, but warned me it doesn't make babies fair, it's just good for digestion. So don't buy those massive expensive boxes, a tiny pack goes a long way.
