Im 20 weeks and I keep hearing dont sleep on back, sleep on side. But from which week is it really important? I sleep on my back mostly and now tension ho rahi hai. Anyone clarify?
I see this worry a lot here, relax! You only really need to switch to side-sleeping once your bump starts showing, usually around week 16-20. Sleeping on your left side is highly recommended, and using a soft pillow between your knees makes it much more comfortable.
Look, there is no need to stress about sleeping positions in the starting months because the baby is tiny. Once you cross week 16, start sleeping on your left side. It's better for circulation, so just buy a pregnancy pillow and get used to it.
Don't worry too much about your sleeping position in the first trimester, you can sleep however you like. But as you enter your second trimester (around the 5th month), it is best to start sleeping on your left side. This ensures proper blood flow to your sweet baby.
Don't waste 2000-3000 rupees on those giant fancy pregnancy pillows you see online. Just use your regular extra bed pillows to support your belly and knees when you start side-sleeping in the second trimester. Save that money because delivery package costs are going to be very high anyway.
I totally understand how difficult it is to change your sleeping habits, especially when you are already so tired. Try to gently train your body to sleep on the left side as your belly grows. Your little angel will get the best oxygen and nutrients this way, so it is worth the effort.
Beta, from the second trimester onwards, you must avoid sleeping on your back. Always turn to your left side, as our elders also say it is best for the baby's health. If you feel backache, keep a rolled-up cotton gaddi or pillow behind your back for support.
