Saw a few ladies using that big birthing ball and now im curious. Im 22 weeks na, is it too early to start ya should i wait till later? anyone using it for back pain?
When I went to mummy's place in my 8th month, my mother got me one because my back used to hurt so much. I used to just sit on it while watching TV and do light bouncing. It helped a lot with pelvic pain, but do ask your doctor once.
In both my pregnancies, I started using the exercise ball from 35 weeks onwards to help baby drop down. Just make sure you have someone nearby when you sit on it initially, as balance can be a bit tricky in the 3rd trimester. Don't do any heavy bouncing, just gentle side to side movements are enough.
Amma suggested to wait till the last month, but when I asked my doctor at 32 weeks, she said I could start light hip rotations on it. It really helped with my pelvic bone pain. Just be very careful with your balance, keep your feet flat on the floor.
My hospital actually had a prenatal physiotherapy session where they taught us how to use it safely. I started around my 34th week under their supervision. It's best to ask your doc or the hospital staff during your next visit, they will show you the exact posture.
Generally, most women start using the birthing ball around 30-32 weeks to help with pelvic pressure and back pain. But please don't just jump into it without asking your gynac first, especially if you have any complications. Just sitting on it and gently rocking can really ease the lower back.
