I have PCOS and my periods are very irregular, so it's always confusing to know when to take a pregnancy test. I'm trying to conceive and wanted to know what's the best time for me to test for accuracy. Any advice would be great.
Since my PCOS made my periods super irregular, I couldn't rely on a 'missed period' date at all. I recently delivered and during my conceiving phase, I tested about 14 days after we had timed intercourse, which showed a faint line. If you track ovulation with strips, test 14 days after ovulation.
It can be tricky with PCOS, but try to wait at least 14 days after ovulation if you track it, or about 19-20 days after unprotected sex. Staying calm and not testing too early helps keep the stress away, which is so important for a healthy conception.
I have PCOS too and am currently planning a baby, so this is such a big dilemma for me! My cycles range from 32 to 45 days, and I never know when to test without wasting a kit. I'm trying to track my basal body temperature to see if that helps time the test better.
With PCOS, don't waste tests every week. Wait until at least 35-40 days have passed since your last period, or test 2 weeks after you suspect you ovulated. If it's negative but your period still doesn't show, wait another week and test again.
I had PCOS and got my positive test around day 40 of my cycle. After a long journey and a gentle C-section delivery, my sweet baby is here now. I would suggest waiting at least 18-20 days after intercourse to test, as ovulation can happen very late in PCOS.
Dealing with PCOS cycles is like playing a guessing game where the rules keep changing, haha! I used to wait till day 45 of my cycle to test, just to avoid seeing those sad single lines. Currently in my 3rd trimester and so tired, but looking back, the patience was worth it!
