When to take pregnancy test for irregular periods?
My periods have always been all over the place so i never know when im 'late'. We've been trying and i dont want to test too early and get a wrong result. when is the right time to test if cycles are irregular?
With my irregular cycles from PCOS the missed period trick never worked for me. I'd say test around 3 weeks after the time you think you ovulated or had unprotected sex, and repeat after a week if negative but still no period. A blood test at the lab is more reliable than home kits in our case.
Don't drive yourself mad testing every day, beta. Give it a good three weeks from when you might have conceived, then test in the morning. If still confused, the doctor's blood test will settle it for sure.
My gynac told me that with irregular cycles you should test about 21 days after the last unprotected intercourse for a fairly accurate result. Morning urine gives the strongest line. If it's negative but you still suspect it, retest in a few days or get a blood test.
My cycles were all over the place so i stopped relying on dates and started tracking ovulation signs in an app. I tested about 3 weeks after my fertile window. If your app can't predict well, the lab blood test is your friend.
Irregular periods make the missed period rule useless, i know the struggle. Wait at least 3 weeks after possible conception and test with first morning urine. If unsure, a blood beta hCG test is the clearest answer.
